Creativity is a central source of meaning in our lives---when we are involved in it, we feel that we are living more fully than during the rest of life.

CSS Inspiration Hop and Farewell

Today is a CSS Inspiration Hop, and it is also a farewell because this is the last of the blog hops by this group. The Stamp TV Center Stage Spotlight alumni are crafters who were selected to be guest designers for Gina K Designs monthly stamp releases. While the CSS ended quite some time back, those who had been part of it were asked to do blog hops from time to time. It has been a great deal of fun since I was selected back in the fall of 2009. I nearly fainted when I got the email from Gina saying I had been chosen and was sure she must have gotten the wrong person! LOL! I've met a lot of very talented and lovely people through this group and will miss our hops. We'll all still be around at Stamp TV (and might even have a few blog hops of our own, you never know!). Now it's time to get on with this last hop …

I hope you came here from my super talented friend Karen's blog. I'm sure she had something fabulous to share with you! If you didn't and would like to start the hop at the beginning, just head back over to Stamp TV to find the list of all the participants.

Here is the inspiration photo we used to get our creative juices flowing.

Isn't it gorgeous? I had an idea the minute I saw it, and here it is in the form of a card.

For some reason, when I saw the inspiration photo I immediately pictured a snow covered tree outside a window. I hope you can see the "snow" and the sparkle on the tree. I stamped the tree in Gina K Designs Christmas Pine ink and heat set it. I added colored "ornaments" to the tree with my Spica markers and then took a glue pad and pressed it down over the tree (that was why I heat set the ink. Didn't want it to smear when I used the glue over it). I sprinkled Stampin' Up Iridescent Ice glitter over the entire thing to make it look like a snow storm outside the window. The card base is GKD  Pure Luxury Christmas Pine, the sparkly layer is some glitter paper I had in my stash, and the patterned paper is from the GKD pack called Blizzard. The window is the Grand Madison Window die from Poppy Stamps. Greeting and tree stamps are from the Gina K Designs set called Cheers.

Thanks for hopping by today and for the many other hops we have had. Enjoy the rest of the hop by heading on over to see the beautiful creation(s) Linda has for you, but before you go be sure to leave a comment here (and at each of the blogs) because we will choose a random comment and that stamper will win a grab bag of Gina K. Designs products! Look for the announcement on Tuesday, December 24.

Happy Holidays!

Thankful Challenge

Today is another CSS alumni blog hop, and since Thanksgiving is just around the corner (can you believe it is next week??) we are sharing cards of gratitude and thankfulness in our hop. I hope you came here from Linda's blog where I am sure she shared a gorgeous creation or two; however, if you didn't start at the beginning of the hop and would like to, jump back to Stamp TV for the full list of participants.

Here is my card for the "thankful challenge":

I used Gina K Designs Pure Luxury Faded Brick and Honey Mustard card stock and layered a piece of patterned paper on that from the Gina K Designs patterned paper pack Grateful Heart. I stamped the leaves from the GKD stamp set Grateful Heart onto Ivory paper with Versamark. After clear embossing the leaves I sponged Gina K Designs Faded Brick and Honey Mustard ink over them. The sentiment is from an older Gina K Designs set called So Grateful. I added some Honey Mustard ribbon and copper railheads to finish it. (All Gina K Designs products can be found here)

I am grateful that you stopped by and am thankful for you and this great crafting community! Please be sure to leave a comment before you hop on over to Joy's beautiful blog because we will choose a random comment from one of the blogs and that stamper will win a grab bag of Gina K. Designs products! Look for the announcement on Tuesday, November 26.

Happy Thanksgiving and blessings to you and yours!

Color Combo Hop

Welcome to the Stamp TV CSS Color Combo Hop. I hope you came here from the fabulous blog of my friend Cheri. I'm sure she had something beautiful to share! If you didn't start the hop from the beginning and would like to go back to the start, hop on over to Stamp TV where you will find the full list of participants.

Our hop is a color combination challenge using the following Gina K Designs Pure Luxury colors as our guide: Dark Chocolate, In the Navy, Tomato Soup, Honey Mustard and Ivory.
Here is my card using the color combo. For some reason the Tomato Soup paper is showing up much more orange than it really is. It should be more of a rust-orange color!

My card starts with a Pure Luxury base of Dark Chocolate and then a layer of Tomato Soup that was embossed with a Sizzix Square Lattice folder. The In the Navy strip is embossed with a Cuttlebug Swiss Dot folder and layered with some Honey Mustard sheer ribbon. The center panel is Dark Chocolate, Honey Mustard and Ivory (all GKD Pure Luxury). I stamped the wheat image from the Gina K Designs stamp set duo called Friendship, Family, Love in Honey Mustard ink. The greeting is stamped in Tomato Soup ink and is from the GKD Harvest of Wishes mini stamp set.

(All of the Gina K Designs Pure Luxury paper, ribbon and ink can be found here.)

I hope you enjoyed seeing these wonderful fall colors! Now hop on over to Melissa's blog to see what she has done with these gorgeous colors.

CSS Sketch Challenge Hop

Welcome to another Stamp TV Center Stage Alumni hop. I hope you visited Linda before you came here, because you wouldn't want to miss her fabulous creations! If you want to start at the beginning of the hop so you don't miss out on anything you can pop back over to Stamp TV to find the list of all the participants.

Today's hop is a sketch challenge using this sketch.
I love using sketches for cards, especially when I'm not feeling the creative mojo! It helps give me a jump start -- so much so that I have two cards for you!

This card was made using Gina K Designs Pure Luxury heavy base weight white card stock. I created the background by stamping it with the small flower from the Gina K Designs stamp set Bold Blooms in GKD Powder Blue ink. I used it full strength and stamped off to create the variety in the colors.  I used GKD Pure Luxury Powder Blue card stock for the frame and cut it out using Spellbinders Decorative Labels Eight. The focal image is also from Bold Blooms and was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and the sponged with GKD Powder Blue. It is hard to see here, but the centers of each of the tiny flowers on the bloom are filled in with a clear stardust pen to give a bit of sparkle. The sentiment and the blue frame around it are from the GKD set Fanciful Tags. The pearls and ribbon are from my stash, and I colored the small pearls at the bottom with a Copic marker to make them match the blues in the card.

And now for something completely different! Here is a fall card made with Gina K Designs Pure Luxury Kraft card stock that I embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder. I also used Pure Luxury Faded Brick and Ivory on this card. The stamps are all from the Autumn Blessings set, which was part of the Grateful Heart Stamp TV Kit. I used Memento Espresso Truffle for the tree, the swirly lines and the sentiment. The leaves are stamped with GKD Faded Brick, Prickly Pear, and Tomato Soup; perfect fall colors! I also used three strips of patterned paper from the Grateful Heart patterned paper pack. The leaf buttons are from my stash and seems just perfect for this card.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my two cards. Now it's time to hop on over to see what Joy created for you! Before you go take a minute to add a comment (and be sure to add one at each stop along the way) because we will choose a random comment and that stamper will win a grab bag of Gina K. Designs products! Look for the announcement on Tuesday, October 15.

Thanks for visiting! Enjoy the rest of the hop!

September Inspiration Hop

Hello, and welcome to the Stamp TV Center Stage inspiration hop! You should have arrived here from Karen's lovely blog, but if you didn't you can go back to Stamp TV to find the full list of hop participants and start from the beginning.

This hop is an inspiration hop based on this beautiful photo provided to us by Joy.

I love the colors and textures of fall, so that is what I took from this photo as my inspiration. I had to use some of the new papers, inks and stamps from the latest Stamp TV kit.  (Sorry my photo isn't better. I had to take this one outside instead of in my studio and the lighting wasn't great).

I chose the pumpkin from the gorgeous Harvest of Wishes stamp set and the sentiment from one of the free incentive sets from Gina K Designs called Friendship Family Love. I also used one of the leaves from the Grateful Heart set to create a subtle background. The card stock is Gina K Designs Pure Luxury Kraft, the new Faded Brick (love this new color!) and Ivory. I used a strip of patterned paper from the Grateful Heart pack. Ink used on this was the gorgeous new Faded Brick from GKD, and Memento Tuxedo Black and Espresso Truffle. The ribbon and brads are from the Stamp TV kit also. I colored the pumpkin with my Kohinoor colored pencils and gamsol. I haven't used colored pencils and gamsol in ages because Copics have become my go-to coloring tools. I forgot how much I like the look of the pencils. They are very soft looking and somehow just seemed appropriate for this pumpkin.

Hope you were inspired by our inspiration photo and my card! Next along the hop is Linda who will have something beautiful to inspire you!

Color Combo Hop

It's time for the second Stamp TV Center Stage hop for June. We are doing a color combo challenge this time using red, white and blue. Did you see what Linda made with this color combo? If you didn't stop at her blog before coming here, you can jump back to Stamp TV and start the hop at the beginning.

I decided to make a fun, bright card with this color combo. Here it is!

This was a fairly quick card to put together using the Gina K Designs Poster Board Sentiments. I used the banner, the frame and one of the sentiments from the set. I stamped the banner in Gina K Designs Red Hot and Blue Raspberry inks and the sentiment in Gina K Black Onyx ink. (The bottom banner is in blue raspberry but the lighting made it look lighter!) The card stock is Gina K Designs Pure Luxury Blue Raspberry and White Layering Weight. The brads were in my stash -- I think they were Stampin' Up.

I hope you enjoyed my red, white and blue card. Now it is time to hop along and get inspired by Karen's fabulous creation, but before you go be sure to leave a comment here and on each blog you visit because we will choose a random comment and that stamper will win a grab bag of Gina K. Designs products! Look for the announcement on Tuesday, June 25.

CSS Inspiration Hop

It is time for another Center Stage Alumni hop; this time it's an inspiration hop, and I'm sure you will find some inspiration along the way. If you arrived here from Joy's beautiful blog, you are on the right track. If you just happened by and would like to start the hop at the beginning head back over to Stamp TV where you will find a list of all of the participants.

Here is the piece we were challenged by Vicki to use for inspiration.

Here is the card I was inspired to make. The colors are the thing that really jumped out at me as well as all the texture.

I used Gina K Designs Pure Luxury papers in Fresh Asparagus, Sweet Corn, Turquoise Sea, Blue Denim, and White. The stamps are from the Gina K Designs sets Bold Blooms and Stately Flowers 1
I used Gina K Turquoise Sea, Fresh Asparagus, and Black Onyx inks. The ribbon and brads are from my stash.

Now head on over to Karen's place to see what she was inspired to create! Thanks for stopping by!

CSS Color Challenge Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stamp TV CSS blog hop for May. If you came here from Linda's fabulous blog, you are on the right track. If you didn't and would like to start from the beginning of the hop, head back over to Stamp TV where you will find the complete list of blogs on the hop.

Our hop for May is a color challenge. Miesje challenged us to make a non-Christmas card that is red and green with a neutral color (black, white or tan). This was a fun challenge, and I got to make a card with one of my favorite summer fruits . . . can you guess which one? Here it is!

Yum! I love juicy, sweet strawberries, so I always enjoy making cards with this Gina K Designs stamp set created by Theresa Momber called Sweet Strawberries. I stamped the large strawberry plant onto the white panel and colored it with Copics. Then I stamped the small plant onto a piece of white scrap paper, colored it and cut it out. I glued it onto the main panel just to give a bit more depth and the feel of  a patch of strawberries. All of the paper used on the card is from Gina K Designs Pure Luxury line: Fresh Asparagus, Red Hot, and White Layering Weight. The patterned paper is the Gina K Berries and Vines paper. The greeting is stamped with Gina K Designs Red Hot Ink and the strawberries were stamped with Gina K Black Onyx.  The buttons and ribbon were from my stash.

Be sure to leave a comment here and on each of the blogs as you go because we will choose a random comment and that stamper will win a grab bag of Gina K. Designs products! Look for the announcement on Tuesday, May 28.

Now head on over to Joy's blog to see the gorgeous creation she has for you!

Card and Flower Serendipity

Isn't if curious how things work sometimes in our lives? I had one of those serendipitous things happen today that was really just a small thing, but it made me smile.

Last night I made this card for my mom for Mother's Day. I used the Wood Violet from the beautiful Stately Flowers 1 set by Melanie Muenchinger at Gina K Designs to make the card. The Wood Violet is the Wisconsin state flower so it seemed fitting to use it for my mother's card since she has lived her whole life in Wisconsin.
All materials used for the card are from Gina K Designs with the exception of the Copic markers used to color the flowers. Cardstock is Pure Luxury heavy base weight white, layering weight white, wild lilac and lovely lavender. The sentiment is from the GKD set "Notes to Mom."

Now for the serendipitous part . . . this afternoon I was in our backyard doing some spring clean up and as I raked some leaves away from the rock wall, look what I found!

This is a Wood Violet! This is the only one that has deep purple flowers on it. All the rest of the plants growing in our yard have white flowers with a purple center, but this one that was buried under a pile of leaves has the beautiful purple flowers just like the ones on my card (although I didn't color them quite as dark as the real thing. Maybe if I had seen this one first . . .)

That was my fun bit of serendipity for today! I hope you are finding things that make you smile on these lovely spring days. Enjoy!

CSS Spring Has Sprung Hop

Spring has sprung -- at least according the calendar! I'm not sure that is true here where I live! Spring is definitely in the air for our blog hop today. Our challenge was to make cards that showed signs of spring. If you came to my blog by way of Karen's, you've already seen some fun spring-themed cards. If you arrived here by some other path and want to start the hop from the beginning, head back over to  Stamp TV for a full list of participants in the hop.

Here is my spring card. I took inspiration from this video by Gina K. I loved how she created her background for the card in this video, so I made a similar one for my card and then carried it over onto the focal image panel as well.

I used Gina K Designs Pure Luxury Turquoise Sea card stock for the base. I layered that with PL Black Onyx and White Layering weight on which I stamped the background. The focal panel is Black Onyx, Wild Dandelion and White Layering weight. I stamped the background with Gina K Ocean Mist and Fresh Asparagus ink and Memento Dandelion and Tangelo. I used the same inks on the focal image panel. I used the "rock and roll" technique on the dragonflies by stamping first into ocean mist ink and then rolling the stamp edges in fresh asparagus to get the two toned dragonfly. I added a piece of turquoise sea ribbon (from the Spring Parade Stamp TV kit) and some dots in the center of the flowers with a Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust pen.

Now head on over to see what is waiting for you over at Lori's blog and think spring!

CSS Sketch Blog Hop

It is CSS blog hop time again and this time it is a sketch hop! I hope you came here from Linda's blog, but if you didn't and would like to see what you missed earlier in the hop just head back over to Stamp TV to find the full list of blog hop participants.

This is the sketch Brenda created and challenged us to use as the inspiration for our cards.

Here's what I was inspired to created from this sketch.

I'm (im)patiently waiting for Spring to arrive here in Wisconsin, so I had to do something that was very spring-like for my first card. These colors just shout warm weather to me as does this "Day at the Park Diva" from the Diva Collection at Gina K Designs.  I used GKD Pure Luxury card stock in Bubblegum Pink, Key Lime, and Wild Dandelion. The patterned paper is from the GKD patterned paper pack "Petals and Wings." I stamped the Diva, her kite and the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black and the clouds in Memento Grey Flannel. Colored areas were done with Copics. The ribbon, buttons and brads are all from my stash. Just a note: the sheer ribbon and bow are actually lime green like the paper, but came out looking yellow in the photo. :(

Here's the second card I made using the new "Spring Parade" Stamp TV Kit. Can I just say that I love, love this kit?? Love the colors, the stamps, the patterned paper . . . well, OK, everything in it is fabulous!

This card is made using the Gina K Pure Luxury card stocks Tomato Soup and Turquoise Sea. The patterned paper is from the Spring Parade pack. The cute birdie, the flowers and cloud are all stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics. I don't have a Silhouette so I hand cut the cloud and raindrops and popped them up with pop dots. The sheer ribbon is from the STV kit also.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my cards. Make sure to leave a comment here and on all the blogs as you go along because we will choose a random comment and that stamper will win a grab bag of Gina K. Designs products! Look for the announcement of the winner on Tuesday, April 16. Now hop on over to see what Joy has waiting for you.

CSS Simplicity Sparkles Blog Hop

Today is another Stamp TV CSS Alumni hop. This one features a challenge from Carolina to make CAS cards that sparkle and shine. I'll be the first to admit that CAS cards are always a challenge for me. I find it hard to keep them simple because I always think they need something else, so it will be fun to see what everyone had created for this hop!

If you came here from Karen's blog, you are on the right path. If you didn't and want to start at the beginning of the hop, go back to Stamp TV to find the whole list.

Here is my sparkly CAS card.

I used the "Sweet Tweets" stamp set from Gina K Designs for this card. The card base is Gina K Designs Pure Luxury Powder Blue that was embossed with a Sizzix Texturz plate. The orange layer is from the Gina K Designs Calypso card stock collection and the white is GKD Pure Luxury white. I stamped the cupcake with Memento Tuxedo Black and the greeting with Gina K Designs Powder Blue ink. I colored the candle and the blue trim on the cupcake with Copics. Then I used a glue pen to color in the hearts, the dots and trim on the frosting and used orange and white glitter to make them sparkle. I added some tiny rhinestones below the greeting that I colored with the orange and blue Copics. A quick, simple birthday card that has a bit of pizzazz from the sparkly glitter.

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to leave a comment at each stop along the blog hop because we will choose a random comment and that person will win a grab bag of Gina K. Designs products! Look for the announcement on Tuesday, April 2. Now head on over to see what the very talented Linda has created for you today.

CSS Favorite Things Hop

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Do you remember that song from The Sound of Music? I loved that movie as a kid, especially the songs and today our blog hop is featuring some of our favorite things. Of course Gina K Designs stamps are included in that list of favorite things for us stampers, so we are using stamps released by Gina K Designs between August 2012 and January 2013 to show you our "favorite" things (besides stamps, ink and paper!).

I hope you came here via the very talented Karen's blog, but if you didn't and want to " . . . start at the very beginning; a very good place to start . . . (oops! sorry, another Sound of Music song . . .). If you want to start the hop at the beginning, go to Stamp TV for the full list of participants.

I had a hard time deciding which of my favorite things to showcase in my cards, but I finally was able to narrow it down to three!

The first one features this adorable snowman from the stamp set "Snow One Like You." Snowmen are one of my favorite things except when they are made from real snow! I despise snow and cold, so I really don't know why I have such an affection for snowmen, but I do and here is one of them.

Card ingredients: Gina K Designs "Snow One Like You" stamp set; Paper: Gina K Designs Pure Luxury Ocean Mist, Red Hot, and White; Gina K Designs Winter Whimsy patterned paper; Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Gina K Designs Red Hot and Ocean Mist; Miscellaneous: Spellbinders dies and Copic markers

A second favorite thing is roses. Love them in all colors! My DH buys me roses for special occasions and I just love to look at them, smell them and feel them (I know, that probably kills them faster but I love how the petals feel!).
Card Ingredients: Gina K Designs "Stately Flowers 6" stamp set; Paper: Gina K Designs Pure Luxury Kraft and White cardstocks and "Smitten" patterned paper; Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Gina K Designs Red Hot; Ribbon: Gina K Designs Pure Luxury Organdy in Red; Miscellaneous: Spellbinders dies

Finally, my third favorite thing is yoga. Yes, believe it or not, I love yoga. I'm just learning, but I feel so good when I do it. So, here is my Balanced Diva!

Card Ingredients: Gina K Designs "Balanced Diva" stamp set; Paper: Gina K Designs Pure Luxury Bubblegum Pink, Key Lime (no longer available but Jelly Bean Green is close) and White card stocks. Gina K Designs "Petals and Wings" patterned paper (background and paper pieced shirt); Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black and Angel Pink; Ribbon: Gina K Designs Calypso ribbon assortment; Miscellaneous: Spellbinders dies and Copic markers.

**All Gina K Designs items -- stamps, cardstock, patterned papers, ink and ribbon as well as the Memento inks can be found by going HERE.

Thanks for joining us as we share our favorite things on this hop! Now head on over to see Lori's favorite things and to see the beautiful creations she made for you.
